Paige - Staff Spotlight Series
We created this Staff Spotlight Series to give our HFK Family the opportunity to learn more about our team and the work they do behind the scenes. Check out Paige’s interview below!
1) How did you first learn about HFK and what attracted you to HFK’s work?
I first learned about HFK when I met Randy, our founder, in the DR when I was an intern with Kids Alive (one of our partner orgs). I love that HFK wants to teach others about the joy of serving, as I have experienced that firsthand myself!
2) What do you do in your role with HFK and what is your favorite part of it?
I do a lot of the behind the scenes logistical work to allow participants to travel with hopefully little worries about the small details and planning. I am in charge of the entire flight booking process, from finding flights that work for participants schedules, to booking them, to communicating the details with participants about their itineraries.
I also help make sure participants are on track with their funding goals, help approve and apply scholarships, manage our Go Method page (from creating the page to approving participants for the trip). I also communicate our travel details with our partner organizations to make sure they know when teams are arriving and departing.
Additionally, I support with our database Bloomerang, updating with information about participants info such as contact info and trips they’ve been on with us in the past, so that we have a streamlined way we can see everyone who has been a part of HFK and their involvement over the years! Flight booking is my favorite part of the OPS job for sure 🙂
3) What have been your biggest accomplishments for you in your role?
This might not be a “big” accomplishment, but it always feels so satisfying when flights are booked and participants are ready to experience the joy of serving! I like getting to support team members with the logistics so that they don’t have to worry about those.
4) Apart from your role in HFK, what else are you involved in?
I work full time for a faith based organization called Young Life. I work directly with students to provide mentorship and invest in their faith journey, from exploring what they believe about God to helping them grow deeper in their faith. Having the opportunity to work with teenagers helps me think about how HFK can serve teenagers and how we can bring more youth into the HFK family.
5) How would you like to reconnect with HFK alumni?
I think it would be fun to have an in person get together with HFK alumni so I could meet more of you and get to know you more!
6) What is something you’d like others to know about HFK that they might not know?
HFK is unique in that we do the logistics for you and your trip so you don’t have to worry about it! Definitely a great org for churches to partner with so we can take the logistics out of your hands and you can focus on other things to prepare!
