Vicki - Staff Spotlight Series
We created this Staff Spotlight Series to give our HFK Family the opportunity to learn more about our team and the work they do behind the scenes. Check out Vicki’s interview below!
1) How did you first learn about HFK and what attracted you to HFK’s work?
The man, the myth, the legend, Randy Farris called me during my freshman year at SMC to invite me on a Spring Break Trip to Peru. I grew up doing service and had always wanted to do an international service trip. I had told some older teammates about it, and when Randy asked them if they knew anyone who might be interested in participating on a trip, they gave him my name and number!
2) What do you do in your role with HFK and what is your favorite part of it?
I work a lot with the Team Captains as they get ready to lead our Service Trips. I love getting to know them and supporting them as their vision for a team becomes a reality.
3) What have been your biggest accomplishments for you in your role?
I’m proud of the resources that have been developed for Team Captains. We’ve worked hard to create a self-paced training program and other materials that provide tools for those who step-up to lead our teams.
4) Apart from your role in HFK, what else are you involved in?
I am currently enjoying work as a substitute teacher before heading back to school in August. I also still enjoy playing soccer and hanging out with my dog, Lola.
5) How would you like to reconnect with HFK alumni?
I’d love to reconnect with the old homies on a team. I have so many fun memories with many of our alumni and I would love to catch-up on a team and make more memories together.
6) What is something you’d like others to know about HFK that they might not know?
Every HFK team is so different so do a little research and find the team and the Team Captains that resonate most with you!
