Virtual Service Experiences Recap

Spring of 2021 was the most “unique” Service Season we’ve ever had!
Below is a recap of our Virtual Service Experiences (VSE’s).

Pilot VSE - Reconnecting with our partners after almost a year of no team visits!

Not being able to travel and see our partners, the house parents, and the kids was very difficult. We are grateful for the technology God provided, the initiative of our staff, and the collaboration of our partners which allowed us to offer multiple VSE’s this past spring service season.

A VSE was an opportunity for anyone to connect with our partner sites and the kids they care for, interact with other participants from all over the country, and grow spiritually. Each participant was sent a care package which included a detailed workbook to aid their experience, a local snack from the partner country they were serving, and some HFK and Kids Alive swag all to support their spiritual, cultural, and overall service experience.

Vanderbilt VSE - Showing off our new swag!

The majority of the VSE trip fees collected from participants went directly to support our partner sites during this difficult season and helped host a pizza party for the care homes which allowed for parents to take a break from cooking and for kids to have a special and fun dinner.

100% Recommended

In our feedback survey, every single person recommended this experience to others!

The workbook was so well done and I loved the interactive experience, the challenges to reflect and grow in my faith/in solidarity with others, and the inspiration it provided to move on from the experience with the joy and faith that was sparked through the experience! Thank you so much!

Belmont VSE - Pet sharing time!

6 VSE’s

We hosted a total of six VSE’s in partnership with our partners: Kids Alive Dominican Republic and Kids Alive Peru.

My favorite part was being in fellowship with all participants and, as a community, learning about HFK and its partners and how we are all making an impact. I also really enjoyed getting up and moving around with the kids.

Last Chance VSE - Moving around with the kids Part 1!

Last Chance VSE - Moving around with the kids Part 2!

$1,818 Donated

Almost two thousand dollars was donated by our participants towards the support of our partners and the daily help they provide the kids in the care homes and the families from their schools.

This was such a wonderful experience. I so enjoyed meeting everyone and having quality time with everyone in the DR.

Leader Training - Leaders getting trained to lead their own VSE’s!

University Connections

We maintained a close connection with Vanderbilt University, The University of Mississippi, and Belmont University as we offered university specific VSE’s.

I enjoyed connecting with the other participants on a deeper level and forming those bonds that are hard to create in casual environments!
— Agustina, VSE Participant

Ole Miss VSE - Interactive time with the kids!

35 Total Participants

Each of the VSE participants experienced a unique way to serve and connect.

My favorite part was seeing the team bond and cultivate space similar to how it happens on in-person trips.

Thank you to everyone who made these experiences possible. We still felt very connected to our partners and the kids and are now looking forward to seeing everyone in person starting in 2022!
